What We Do

The Language Services Division provides official interpretation and translation services for the International Monetary Fund (IMF). We are responsible for the maintenance of a multilingual terminology database.

We work in Washington, D.C. or anywhere around the globe to facilitate communication between the IMF, its member countries, and the general public. The multilingual services we provide are to facilitate the IMF in its communication with its membership as it carries out its mandates of surveillance, lending and capacity development. We translate IMF documents and/or publications from English into Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish, and from those languages into English. Other language combinations are offered as well upon request.

We also provide interpretation services in support of all Fund activities worldwide, including meetings and conferences: hybrid and virtual meetings using remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI) platforms; the Annual and Spring Meetings; seminars, workshops, and training courses; missions by staff and short-term technical assistance experts; and long-term expert and resident advisor assignments in the field.
