Charalambos G. Tsangarides

Charalambos G. Tsangarides is a Deputy Chief of the Eastern II Division in the IMF’s African Department. He is currently the Mission Chief for Comoros, and Deputy Mission Chief for Nigeria. Previously, he lead the work on analytical chapters for the semi-annual Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Economic Outlook and contributed to policy analysis. Prior to that, he was senior economist in the IMF’s Research Department where he coordinated the department’s vulnerability analysis for advanced and emerging market countries which assesses risks to the global economy. His main research interests are economic growth, international macroeconomics, and applied econometrics. He has written on issues related to the stability of the international monetary system—including exchange rate regimes, exchange rate assessments, international reserves, and external imbalances—the nexus between income inequality and growth, exchange rate regimes and bilateral trade, and the application of Bayesian methods for model uncertainty.
