Hackathon on Improving Public Financial Management Through Technology in Costa Rica

The IMF's Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) along with Costa Rica’s Ministry of Finance is hosting a technology Hackathon July 29-30, 2019, in San José, Costa Rica.

This exciting two-day event will use Design Thinking to help multidisciplinary teams create practical and innovative digital technology solutions that will centralize and improve Costa Rica’s social programs payment system to strengthen transparency and control.


Registration

The Hackathon has a limited number of spots available for individuals who are interested in attending. If you meet the participation criteria, please complete the application form by July 17th and we will inform you shortly if you have been selected to attend..


Prize

The winning team will receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C., to present their proposal during the Annual Meeting of the International Monetary Fund, where they will also have the opportunity to network with the best and brightest economic and business leaders in the world.


What to Expect
  1. Apply to attend the Hackathon! If you are selected you will receive a welcome packet that will include more information on the challenge, instructions on how to pitch, and the methodology used at the event.

  2. Attend the two-day Hackathon where you will work in teams to solve a challenge on improving public financial management. The best solution will be chosen by a panel of local and international experts.

  3. Win a trip to Washington, D.C., attend a unique networking opportunity, and have bragging rights on being part of the transformation!
