Increase in Food and Fuel Prices—Seminar on Macroeconomic Impact, and Policy Responses

IMF staff will present a broad assessment of the impact of the surge in food and fuel prices on the balance of payments, budgets, prices, and poverty in a large sample of countries. The assessment is the work of a staff taskforce that also examined macroeconomic policy responses and the role of the IMF in helping countries to manages these shocks.
