IMF Announces Conclusion of Staff Negotiations with Brazil
Shailendra Anjaria, Director of External Relations of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), announced today that the negotiations for the first review of the Stand-by loan with Brazil, which was approved by the Executive Board of the IMF on December 2,1998, were concluded between a Brazilian team and the Fund Staff, and that the Brazilian team is returning to Brasilia.
“The documentation will be reviewed this weekend in Brasilia and in Washington. It is expected that the Management of the IMF will be in a position on Monday to recommend to the Executive Board the completion of the review, and that the Memorandum of Economic Policies will be made public shortly thereafter,” Anjaria said.
