News Brief: IMF Managing Director to Visit Brazil, Colombia and Chile

Horst Köhler, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will visit Brazil, Colombia, and Chile during December at the invitation of these countries.
Mr. Köhler will have discussions with President Cardoso and President-elect Lula da Silva of Brazil, President Uribe of Colombia, and President Lagos of Chile, and other authorities of these countries.
The purpose of the visit, which is Mr. Köhler's second to Latin America since assuming office as Managing Director of the IMF on May 1, 2000, is for discussions on issues confronting these countries and the region.
Mr. Köhler will start his itinerary on December 6 in Brasilia.
