News Brief: IMF Begins Publishing Quarterly Progress Reports on Special Data Dissemination Standard

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) today is launching regular publication on its website (http://www.imf.org) of quarterly reports on developments in the Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS).
At the Third Review of the IMF's Data Standards Initiatives, the Executive Board agreed that the IMF should issue quarterly reports on the SDDS to chronicle progress and to give the initiative more prominence. The initial quarterly report highlights developments since the third review was conducted on March 29, 2000, including the dissemination of reserves template data, and the dramatic increase in the usage of the IMF's Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board.
The SDDS was established in 1996 to guide countries in the dissemination of economic and financial data to the public.
