Bahrom Shukurov, Resident Representative

Mr. Shukurov, a national of Tajikistan, joined the IMF in 2011. During his career, he has gained extensive experience as a macroeconomist. He has worked in the Middle East and Central Asia, Strategy, Policy, and Review, and Western Hemisphere Departments covering a range of countries including Greece, the Kyrgyz Republic, Qatar, Suriname, Turkey, and UAE. Mr. Shukurov also worked on various debt-related issues including developing policies on debt limits and lending into arrears for IMF-supported programs. He also organized workshops in Kenya and Tanzania on debt sustainability frameworks, and in China on IMF debt and lending policies.

He is currently the Resident Representative of the IMF in São Tomé and Príncipe since May 2022.

Prior joining the IMF, he was a local economist at the IMF’s Resident Representative office in Tajikistan, and before that he worked at the National (Central) Bank of Tajikistan and, as a consultant at the Tajikistan Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank.
