Jennifer Lester

Director of the Corporate Services and Facilities Department

Jennifer M. Lester was appointed Director of the Corporate Services and Facilities Department (CSF), effective February 18, 2020. A national of Jamaica, Jennifer joined the Fund in 1997. She spent most of her career in the Legal Department, where she was appointed Assistant General Counsel in 2009 before moving to CSF in 2016 as Deputy Director. In her previous position as Assistant General Counsel, she headed the Legal Department’s Administrative Law Unit. 

Before joining the IMF, Jennifer was Legal Officer in the Legal Department of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization. Prior to that, she was an Associate in private practice with the Washington, D.C. office of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton, where she practiced corporate law, international trade law and litigation. Jennifer is a former career foreign-service officer with the Jamaican Foreign Service. She served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kingston and as Minister Counsellor in the Jamaican Embassy in Washington from 1985-1991.

Jennifer received her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, and holds a M.Sc. in International Relations, and a B.A. in Modern Languages both from the University of the West Indies.
