Derek L. Bills

Director of the Investment Office

Derek Bills was appointed Director of the Investment Office of the International Monetary Fund in October 2016. For the past 18 years, he has served the Investment Office in various capacities, including as Chief Operations Officer, covering all the core functions of IMF operations, investment analysis, and risk and performance.
  
Before joining the Investment Office, Mr. Bills worked for several years as an economic systems expert at the IMF, leading the country assistance team in what was then the IMF’s Bureau of Computing Services. He has also worked in an investment capacity in the private and medical sectors.

Mr. Bills completed his MBA at Georgetown University, graduated in Economics at Goucher College in Towson, MD, and has a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.
