Nico Valckx is currently a senior economist with the IMF’s Research Department focusing on energy markets and climate risk. Previously, he worked in Monetary and Capital Markets Department where he focused on structural financial developments for the Global Financial Stability Report and led or co-led financial sector assessments and reviews of Hong Kong SAR and Uganda; and in the European Department of the IMF, working on euro area monetary and financial sector policies. Prior to joining the IMF, Nico was in Financial Stability and Research at the European Central Bank and De Nederlandsche Bank. He holds an M.Sc. from KU Leuven and a Ph.D. in applied financial economics from UFSIA, University of Antwerp.
