Jiří Podpiera is an Economist in the IMF’s European Department. He specializes in monetary economics and economic convergence issues. He started his career at the Czech National Bank and between 2004 and 2009, was Director of International Economics Division and the Czech member of the monetary policy committee of the European Central Bank. He was a visiting researcher in ECB’s Research Department in 2006. He graduated from CERGE-EI of Charles University.
