ksielewicz GDP based on PPP
Could you explain why in your recent database released in April field "Gross domestic product based on purchasing-power-parity (PPP) valuation of country GDP" has been significantly revised for China. For example last year's database stated China?s GDP PPP in 2001 was US$ 5,933.39 bn and in your current data that number is revised to US$ 3334.177 bn. Your answer would be much appreciated.

As mentioned in this article, the purchasing power parity (PPP) exchange rates used to determine GDP based on PPP were revised this past December by the International Comparison Program (ICP). In particular, China's PPP exchange rate was revised significantly, leading to the large revision to its GDP based on PPP in the April 2008 WEO publication.
