Inflation data
The latest series of World Inflation, consumer prices (Annual percent change) suffered a tremendous change from previous reports. For example, while inflation in 1992 was estimated at 35.9% in the April 2007 edition of WEO, it was estimated at 136.836% in the April 2008 edition. Furthermore, the data accompanying Figure 1.1. Global Indicators in the latest edition indicates that inflation in emerging and developing economies was 13.4%, while inflation in the advanced economies amounted to 3.78% in 1992. There is no way to reconcile the latter figures with the 136.836% annual inflation reported for the world aggregate. Could someone please provide a corrected table with data on world inflation since 1970?

The data in figure 1.1 are correct - emerging and developing economies use the median inflation of the countries in that figure, substantially reducing its number in most periods.
That said, we're taking a closer look why the World inflation number in our online database is so high and will get back to you shortly.
