Paul Cashin

Paul Cashin-IMFPaul Cashin, a national of Australia, is Assistant Director in the IMF’s Asia-Pacific Department, and mission chief of Japan. Since joining the IMF in 1993, Mr. Cashin has worked in various departments including the Research Department, Western Hemisphere Department, and the Middle East and Central Asia Department.

Prior to joining the Fund, Mr. Cashin was principal research economist at the Ministry of Agriculture in Victoria, Australia, and Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Mr. Cashin has published widely in several fields of economics, including macroeconomic modeling, commodity prices and exchange rates, international economics, and economic development. Mr. Cashin obtained his Ph.D. and an M.A. in Economics from Yale University, and holds an M.Agr.Sc. in Agricultural Economics and Bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Melbourne in Australia.
