Anthony C.K. Tan is a senior economist in the Regional Studies Division of the IMF’s Asia Pacific Department, on secondment from the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO). He has a varied experience in macroeconomics, policy analysis and international cooperation. Prior to joining the IMF, he was primarily responsible for regional surveillance of AMRO’s member countries, focusing on emerging economies. Previously, he worked at the Economics Department of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), covering domestic macroeconomic and external sector surveillance. Mr. Tan earned his MSc (with Distinction) from the University of Malaya and a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) from the London School of Economics. His research has been published by the BNM, Hitotsubashi Journal of Economics, the South East Asian Central Banks, AMRO, and the IMF.
